This blog is for Lewis and Harriet's beloved child, Angela. It has collected notes and pictures on Angela's growth and development as well as events and activities taken place between 11.25.2008 and 12.31.2011.
Angela joined a Halloween activity for kids nearby the shopping area of Taipei Main Station last Saturday. Before that, Angela's preschool English teacher had talked about trick-or-treat in class, so she was quite looking forward to the event. The area was decorated by common Halloween imagery such as pumpkin lanterns, themes of death, witches, ghosts, etc.Unaffected by the gloomy weather, this event attracted lots of kids and toddler to have fun and to get free gifts.
Angela bumped into one of her preschool classmates, EuiShuan.
Many kids dressed in costume wigs, character masks. cloak and hats to make their Halloween costumes stand out. But, Mommy preferred Angela to be a sweet, cute bug in the ladybug costume.
The Halloween program included a series of interactive activities, storytelling, trick-or-treating, and a costume contest. Angela went for a DIY activity and used straws to make a dinosaur, as shown in the picture. Angela got a lot of toys provided by sponsor, MacDonald and a scarf and a pair of gloves. Cool.
During story time, Angela was sitting with kids to listened to the storytellers and watched their performance. She also paid attention to the conversation between storytellers and other kids.
On the national day, Angela and Mommy went to see public parade nearby the presidential hall. The parade drawed a huge crowd to gather at Jen-Ai Road in the afternoon.
There were various characters bolloons. band performances, dance and people in the parade.
Angela watched happily and waved her little hands and said hello to them. However, because these characters were so big that Angela was afraid of shaking hands with them.
In the evening, Angela, Mommy, Grandma and Uncle watched beautiful fireworks displays, which is one of the most excited events on the national day. For an hour, the fireworks turned the night sky into a dazzling explosion of color, a perfect final hurrah for the nation's birthday party.
It was Angela's first day to go to preschool. On her way to school, Angela was so excited, but when Grandma said goodbye to her, Angela showed sign of separation anxiety and cried aloud in the classroom. Miss Chen, one of the two teachers, came to carry Angela and conformed her for nearly half an hour to stop her crying.
Normally, a full-day preschool program is from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. However, since Angela is under the age of 2, long school hours may become too much burden on her and may not good for her development. So, Mommy reconsidered the program and decided to let Angela attend half-day preschool.
The first half of Friday's program schedules 50-minute English listening, chanting and singing , 15-miniute break, 50-miniute walking and outdoor activities, 30-minute educational theme teaching and 40-miniute lunch time. The teachers also help young toddlers with potty training and self-care skills.
This evening when Mommy was home, Angela eagerly showed me her new books and CDs from school. Mommy played one of the CDs "Go to School", and Angela watched, sang and danced happily. Mommy hopes that Angela enjoys preschool programs, which stimulate growth and development, and gradually learns gross and fine motor skills, emotional and social skills, and intellectual skills.
Yesterday Angela got her school uniform and school bag with eating utensils. When Mommy help her try on her pinafore, Angela seemed so happy. She also was eager to looked inside her bag.
